APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

The neighbor across the road has a small hobby farm which is gorgeous and beautifully cared for. He ordered birds this year, maybe next year ill see about a joint order. I have a feeling that ill end up torchering dh to get eggs or chicks next year. Idk why iwant them so badly. He claims its because i am polish.

:D I'm a little polish, so that's probably why I'd like to have them. Sounds like a feasible plan. I successfully introduced them to my flock, no blood ever, no injuries nothing, & it would be a pain (2 months) but I'd do it again.

I have 3 kinds of Brahmas What wonderful gentle calm bird fluffy big Chickens. I have maybe 10 roos that are Brahma or half and all are very docile.Id recommend a brahma to anyone especially as a starter chicken and my girls lay eggs every day like the orps.

Well I had to do it!!!...grrr hatch fever...I wanted to test my Lav Orp eggs before selling A new roo is in with the girls and want to make sure of fertility and that I get no mixed babies so although i have just ONE bator now ..i set the darn eggs today in with eggs that are due Aprl 1st.
Lockdown i dont know where i will go with these.!! unless i get more broody hens to slide them under for a few days.Well ido have a crude homemade bator which seemed to keep the heat last year. no heat regulator on the light bulb for heat but seemed to stay right where it needed to be ..it was my emergency bator.Could set it back up last resort.if it isn't thrown away STILL why am i not more patient!!

Please can I join in?! I hope to have some baby goslings and ducklings mid April! My first ever attempt at incubating - I can't believe how nervous I am!

I'm using a Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance and will hatch (hopefully!) in an old Brinsea Hatchmaker!

Oh yeah, Brahmas too, I'd settle for that or Cochin roos. Almost bought some at TC, as a straight run... It was sure hard to resist!!

My hubby is getting overwhelmed with the directions I left him in case I have to take my son to the hospital. He likes biddies, but isn't sure about all the work that it entails. He doesn't mind getting up at night & checking the humidity or turning the eggs - but egg candling, assisting a hatch, treating open navels or umbilical cords, leg braces, or worse; euthanizing... -Yikes! He was looking forward to it, but probably not anymore. He helped me make this incubator lol

Welcome!

I've heard a lot of good things about Brinsea. This is only my 3rd time & I'm still nervous, just not as nervous as the first time lol... & nervous for other reasons :-/
Leaving hubby in charge... Hubby doesn't really like chickens. He likes biddies, just not full grown lol

Good luck!

Today was my birthday, i should have treated myself to some polish chicks. Oh well. There's always next year!

I'm just getting on board here. Had 3 of my eggs hatch last week. I still have eggs in incubator I had shipped. This is my first time trying to hatch shipped eggs. From what I've read, I'm not getting my hopes too high.

Happy Birthay! You shoud have!!I did ordered my self some nice silky eggs hope they hatch!

Did i say thus morning i set some zLav Orps eggs? well added one to it and one silky egg later today Opened one voop i gavent chreck for eggs i a coupke days there werre about 10 eggs of different kinds in there Sone big some such a jpretty blue from my 2 Lav Amercauna girls.Should set them as s
they didnt mate with the Am roo but might have with my blue all or part englush orp roo Hes not that big so could be half lav Am too.Anyway wondr what id get from lav am x blue orp?Might set rhem too but id vetter bw nakung or buying another bator this week as i now have 13 eggs that will hatch April 5 .If i add these even more April 5 or6 th.

I hatched in March but only had a 50% success, w/ 15 chicks. So I refilled the bator and am starting over. I set the eggs on 3-17 due to hatch on 4-6. All my eggs are my own chickens eggs, all are NN, but not traditional sop NN, they are what I call "Seussers" a chicken that would fit in any Dr Seuss book.

I'm in! :) This is my first attempt at hatching ever and I'm really excited and a bit scared. I set 12 of my own chickens' eggs. My roosters are both mixed color Orpingtons, one buff/blue and one buff/splash I think. For hens I have 6 SLW, 1 BR, and 1 mixed color Orpington (I think she's golden blue cuckoo). I put them in the incubator last Thursday (3/13) so I think they're due to hatch 4/2, right? Since tomorrow is Day 7, I plan on candling tomorrow evening. The incubator is set up in my classroom so my students are excited too. I did tell them there are no guarantees, and they keep asking how long it's going to take. On Day 1 they wanted to sit around the incubator with their work. LOL My incubator is a Farm Innovators Professional 4200 Series with an egg turner.
