APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

I set 14 olive eggers shipped and 12 barnyard mix I purchased locally to hatch April 6th. I have done 2 with a broody, this is my first in an incubator.
I have a HB and the temp is steady at 99.5 to 99.7 for the first 4 days, the humidity is steady at 25-27%. Was told to keep it 20-30% for first 5 days for shipped eggs.
Very nervous with the shipped and the incubator things. Hoping to get at least 4 OE's.

Thank you. Eggs hatched were from my chickens. I had put them in the incubator before ordering eggs. Had 3 hatch and 3 didn't. : ( I think I may have had a humidity problem. I didn't have a humidistat in the incubator I used. I changed out to a new incubator with a humidistat. Hoping for better results. Shipped eggs are Cream Brabanter & Polish.

Well did it again!!
I'll have to not gather any more eggs I think for anything...
I keep finding them and putting them in my incubator Now i have to buy a new bator or something its totally full.3 cartons of eggs and about 6 on the bator floor..... no room!! Guh, and my shipped eggs arent even here
She said id get 18!!
Shoot that's about 42 eggs! right now. 60 altogether..... what am i THINKING!!.

Yes right humidity helps..... I have a terrible prolem always with mine running low on water I like a steady 35 but its always going to 20's Don't want 40 as mine seem to be too wet if its there ...The instructions always say put water in every few days HAH...I need it every few hours!

Poppy duck im jealous haha... i want a Brinsea so badly!they are the best.!
Never hear complaints on here from people with Brinseas. Good luck on your ducks!!

I'll join! I was planning on being part of the Easter Hatch a Long, but it doesn't look like that's going to work out :(
I'm gonna be setting some mutt duck eggs sometime soon (once I can get a confirmed pickup date from the supplier). They'll probably hatch sometime around the 20th of April :)

Today was my birthday, i should have treated myself to some polish chicks. Oh well. There's always next year!

Happy belated! Hey you don't have to wait for next year ;)

I'm just getting on board here. Had 3 of my eggs hatch last week. I still have eggs in incubator I had shipped. This is my first time trying to hatch shipped eggs. From what I've read, I'm not getting my hopes too high.

Good luck! I've never hatched shipped eggs either, still exciting :D

I hatched in March but only had a 50% success, w/ 15 chicks.  So I refilled the bator and am starting over.  I set the eggs on 3-17 due to hatch on 4-6.  All my eggs are my own chickens eggs, all are NN, but not traditional sop NN, they are what I call "Seussers" a chicken that would fit in any Dr Seuss book.

What's NN? Lol I'm so lame :ha
All mine are from my own chickens. Marans x
Most of them *should look like this:
400

Dad is a blue splash so all of his offspring, look just like him lol

Well did it again!!

Today I was already thinking of saving eggs right before these ones hatch lol mine is maxed out. Last year I had 20 go into lock down & I had to open it 2x to get the dry chicks out because there was no room. How did I fit 30 eggs without stacking them? I have no idea lol
Keeping my fingers crossed for a potential broody for you. It's so much easier when mine does all the work, but she always ends up with 70% boys :( - I have a 50/50 ratio when I use my incubator. No clue why!

I'd like to join! I set 10 EE and EE/BO eggs on March 11 in my homemade incubator. It was a spur of the moment thing, as we found our roo a new home (loved him, was my favorite, but aren't allowed to keep roosters). This is an attempt to get a couple of hens out of him.

I messed up the humidity the first few days...way too high. Finally smartened up and cut a little piece of a new dishcloth and just dampen that every time I turn the eggs.

I also could not make out the aircells on day 1, so I did not mark them until day 4 for the EE eggs, and day 5 for the BO's eggs. I'm having a harder time seeing into the BO eggs!

As of day 4 all the EE eggs were growing, and I thought the BO eggs were non starters, but on day 5 I could see veins in all 5 of the BO eggs.

I did weigh each egg on day 1. I wasn't sure if I was going to use that info, but I just read Pete's Guide to hatching/incubating/humidity, so I'm glad I weighed. I guess they should lose about 5% a week, so I will weigh this evening to see where I am at.

I read through the March hatching thread and know some of you here had some rough hatches. So sorry! : ( The roo we rehomed was hatched from shipped eggs under a broody BO last year. Three eggs made it to the end and he was the only one to successfully hatch. One broke it's yolk after it pipped externally, and one pipped internally and shrink wrapped.

I sure am hoping for more success this time around!

Im having no luck finding a thermometer that also tells hunidityfor our hovabators. We lost the old little one and im bummed.

On a positive note our neighbor refuses to charge us for eggs to hatch and he gave me a huge butcher block that we refinished. I told him in exchange we would be willing to hatch chicks for him
