They are adorable!
ME WANT!
I did some candling tonight (Day 7 for the eggs in my incubator) and could make out some definite development. Yay!
Im having no luck finding a thermometer that also tells hunidityfor our hovabators. We lost the old little one and im bummed.
On a positive note our neighbor refuses to charge us for eggs to hatch and he gave me a huge butcher block that we refinished. I told him in exchange we would be willing to hatch chicks for him
Update for mine:
Out of the 6 modern game birds, only one is still developing. I set this one on the 10th.
Out of the 7 mystery ducks I set on the 15th all 7 are developing.
Out of the 7 dozen mixed chicken eggs I set on the 15th, I have no idea. Most are too dark to candle. lol
I'd like to join! I set 10 EE and EE/BO eggs on March 11 in my homemade incubator. It was a spur of the moment thing, as we found our roo a new home (loved him, was my favorite, but aren't allowed to keep roosters). This is an attempt to get a couple of hens out of him.
I messed up the humidity the first few days...way too high. Finally smartened up and cut a little piece of a new dishcloth and just dampen that every time I turn the eggs.
I also could not make out the aircells on day 1, so I did not mark them until day 4 for the EE eggs, and day 5 for the BO's eggs. I'm having a harder time seeing into the BO eggs!
As of day 4 all the EE eggs were growing, and I thought the BO eggs were non starters, but on day 5 I could see veins in all 5 of the BO eggs.
I did weigh each egg on day 1. I wasn't sure if I was going to use that info, but I just read Pete's Guide to hatching/incubating/humidity, so I'm glad I weighed. I guess they should lose about 5% a week, so I will weigh this evening to see where I am at.
I read through the March hatching thread and know some of you here had some rough hatches. So sorry! : ( The roo we rehomed was hatched from shipped eggs under a broody BO last year. Three eggs made it to the end and he was the only one to successfully hatch. One broke it's yolk after it pipped externally, and one pipped internally and shrink wrapped.
I sure am hoping for more success this time around!
Quick question, i feel i know the answer but i am hoping to be wrong. Well the neighbor gave us eggs from this mornings collection, okay great! Well not so great. Theyre pretty cold.we have eggs from our birds and are still going to put these in but i dont have much hope.
Are they duds now because theyre cold?
