Done candling for day 14. Got some dark eggs in my first incubator, so I'm thinking if it doesn't smell, it's ok.
In my 2nd unit, I have a couple that look questionable. No smell, so they go back in. Can't wait for next week!

Okay, so I have a first! I must have done something right because I have 16 eggs I set on April 2 and I have 8 pipped! Two had pipped when I checked on them around 630 pm, it's now 202 am. None have hatched yet. I'm used to on hatching and while that's going on, finally getting another pup.
Maybe it was because this time my incubator was FULL, perhaps that kept it more evenly heated or something?
Also, they were moved to a lower temperature in the hatcher and for about the last week of incubation. (Not on purpose, but because I had to move them to another incubator and I have better control over its temperature.)
Aaaanyway, these are SLW (which aren't looking like they want to hatch any time soon), BRs, and BAs in there. I am VERY excited about this.
Yes, and unexpected, I thought all my female carriers were killed in the big massacre we had (preditor attack instigated by a human)That's funny...I feel the same way. That chick is something special.![]()
Kass, is that the first one you've had like that?

Great pics!
oh my goshm? Instigated by a human? Please share, if you don't mind that is.Yes, and unexpected, I thought all my female carriers were killed in the big massacre we had (preditor attack instigated by a human)
I bought a chick that was the same way. But it was eating and drinking. I kept an eye on it and it dried up and fell off. She is 1 month old now and is smaller than the other chicks but still alive and kicking.
