APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

I'm right there with you. Temp fluctuations, dark eggs, etc has me stressing. Boyfriend is sick of hearing about it. I am afraid to mess with them all and candle each one but I think I will day 14. I'm on day 11. I think mine look farther along than they should. It might be the temp getting too high in the afternoon (still air and hits 101.5). Good luck everyone!

it sounds to me like everything is fine...does your incubator circulate the air?
no real need to candle until day 18 but don't expect to see a whole lot they get very quiet about that time
in chick development 10 more days is a llllooonnnggg time so don't get discouraged

Alright, I might have one more hatch still in April. I put 18 Lavender Ameraucana eggs into the incubator April 10th so they might hatch the 30th. I candled today and two or so looked possibly clear. A few others were not very easy to see into, especially the two that have a greenish tinge instead of just blue. Others I could clearly see were developing and saw the baby moving around really well in one. Whoohoo! I'm excited about this hatch; this hatching thing really is addictive.

How do u know what they r? I have 5 that r 5 days old. 3/5 hatches with this little snood already showing. Those same 3 have wings that look different than the others, looks like they have 2 sets. Lol Do u think that means they r boys?

If you get directly above them and look down at the shape of their head, the girls will have a triangular shape with the point being their beak, and the boy's heads look more like a square. It's never failed me.
