April Hatch Along

I did candle my eggs again on night one... so a little over 24 hours in the incubator. It was easier to see them since it was dark in the room vs daytime when I set them the day before. I was able to see the yolks. Yowsers, those marans eggs are tough to see into even in complete darkness! I've been able to keep humidity real stable around 30% it. Did get down to almost 20 very briefly and I added just a bit of water though the vent hole with a marinating syringe and it shot to 40% before stabilizing back to 30%. Temp still holding rock steady. I've observed no spikes or drops. I'm going to try real hard to not touch them until day 6 or 7. I really want to see the development, but I don't want to handle them too much. I was able to resist candling last night! Go me!

First time hatcher here. On day 28/29 for my goose eggs. I can hear them tapping and chirping away and now starting to worry that we're so close to the end and something will go wrong!
I set 8 eggs, 7 look good but one looks completely different when it's candled. I assumed it died 4 or 5 days ago. The air sac moves and everything inside looks too liquid but today when I candled it ready to discard it I could still see movement, it looked like a heart beat. Not sure what to do now? Trying not to be impatient but want to see my babies!

Good luck to everyone!!!

How are you going to manage lockdown since they all hatch at different times? Just curious...Also, aren't duck eggs supposed to be misted?

ETA oh wait it looks like maybe you have two incubators!

Those are the worst - when they get all the way to hatch and die. It just makes me sad :( They never even got a chance to "live"! Fingers crossed for you!

I'm a little late joining this thread....but I got my first batch of eggs today.
They are Auburn Javas. I got 36 eggs and the breeder included 4 extra, a baker's dozen x 3 :)
The shipper did an excellent job. The eggs were wrapped individually, put in 18 count egg cartons and then surrounded with wool. I've unpacked them from the wool and set the unopened egg cartons near the incubator to rest.
I'll be setting the eggs in the incubator late this evening, by then they will have rested for 12 hours.
These are what Auburn Javas look like :)

I'm planning on candling on day 8 and day 18 just before lockdown.
Wish me luck with my first ever incubation and first chickens!
