She's getting so far!! Go, my daughter, go!

Well my 10th chick that had zipped didn't make it. I really wanted to assist, but kept telling myself to wait 24 hours because that's what I've read several places. Now I can't stop thinking that I could have saved it.

But I'm grateful to have 9 beautiful blrw chicks from shipped eggs. 2 eggs have not hatched and we're on Day 22, so not much hope for them. I can't see much when I candled. But wow, seeing the difference between feed store chicks and private breeder chicks really makes you appreciate the work that goes into improving the breed lines, instead of breeding for quantity. I think I've actually been cured of my addiction to buying those feed store chicks now lol. The blwr I bought from Kahoots last month look like a whole different breed, with gold/copper where red should be and more gray than blue.

My little Biele female was upside down in her brooder. I picked her up and she was throwing her head back with eyes shut. I gave her some sav-a-chick vitamin/electrolyte (a little stronger dose than is in their waterer), but she is not doing well. Ideas?
Eta: i also noticed a little of this behavior soon after hatch, but she seemed to pop out of it with water and food.

Sorry you lost one. :hugs

And so true about quality! I love looking in the bins at the feed stores, but have no desire to ever buy those chicks again.

Nutridrench! Straight from the dropper, followed by clean water.
