Araucana Lethal gene ?

Hey Poultrykeeper,

That could be interesting. So maybe we arrange a springtime blind date.

I did go to the poultry show but I went on Sunday while the judging was being announced so I didn't see many people there and and because of the weather not a lot of people were selling their birds. Its still fun to go though. It made me decide to start looking for large cochins.

As for breeding the splash w/ whites, I don't know if that was discussed but you're right, it does make you wonder.

This is the handsome Rainbow I got from Gary. He is a wonderful roo. No tufts but rumpless and super sweet with his hens and us. I am hoping to hatch out pullets from him and his girls. I keep getting roos! LOL

This is another beauty from Gary. He has molted here so you can't see his bilateral tufts but he throws sons that look almost like him. I like the colors and plan on keeping these gorgeous colors going as much as possible. The red breasted blue hen behind him is my baby girl. She sure thinks she is my pet and practically jumps on my shoulder when I get near her.
Gary has some wonderful birds.

Yes, Nola. That is Boom Boom's daddy. They look so much alike, huh?

Yes, Rainbow is gorgeous in full sunlight. This was at dusk when he was going to bed and I snapped a few photos from the front of the tractor.

This is Boom Boom before Nola took him home. He was about 4 or 5 months old. I'd have to look at the date. I haven't any of Rainbow's kids as I can't keep all these hatching roos around.

I took the little game hen out of the coop and put her back in her cage. He is walking all around the coop just talking and talking, like he is looking for her.

I don't know why, all she ever did for him was knock the snot out of him !

I need a rooster that will knock the snot out of her ! But, she can stay here to be my broody for this summer. By next year Boom-boom will be big enough to give her "what for".

I think it won't take too much longer for her to realize having a man around isn't such a bad thing. She will get jealous of seeing him and his new ladies parading around. But yes, it will be nice to have her as a broody. Get her to raise you up some blue egg layers!
