Arizona Chickens

Since I have never had a broody hatch - I have a question about feed.  Should I use medicated chick starter for the new babies??  Just thinking ahead as hatch time will be here before we know it!!!  Usually I have chicks and just use regular starter/grower.   Thoughts??

The chicks will develop a stronger immune system if you give them NON medicated starter.

When I have a broody with chicks in the flock, I make a creep feeder by using a cage that the chicks can get through the holes but the big chickens cannot get their heads through. I put chick feed and a chick waterer in there. Right now I have little Silkies in my Silkie pen and I am using an upside down milk crate as a creep feeder. They go in through the handle holes.

Anyone have any fertile EE, Ameraucana or BA eggs they wouldnt mind sending me I want to try out my two incabators that I have. I have some fertile mallard eggs but they have been in my fridge for a few months not sure if there still good lol plus my EE needs some new friends lol.

I have fertile EE eggs but don't like to send them while we have triple digits. They likely won't be fertile when they get to you but I'll be happy to send you some next month if you won't mind waiting. I have 3 EE girls in with my Golden Marans roo too.

That would be awesome, I dont mind waiting, ill take whatever you have available, thank you so much.

The Wheaten eggs would be awesome, when could you send some?

I just integrated this flock so give me about 10 days to get them settled. The hens in the pen are not Wheatens just the roosters are. Hens are 5, EE all green egg layers, and 2 each purebred PBR, RIR, Partridge Rock and Light Brahama. So the chicks are definitely a mix.

Thats fine, ill hook you and anyone else up with some fertile Wybar eggs once I get them set up and breeding.

Im having issues with my girls, i let them out of there coop to free range and when it is time to go back in they dont want too. Anyone know a good way to make them want to go back into the coop at night?
