As much as you may not like it eventually you will give in and have more than one breed
Considering I am now looking at getting the Cochins to momma the Orpington chicks I now want, you're right. I was blissfully trying live in denial, but what's the point? BRING ON THE CHICKENS!!!!

I'm looking for a couple silver laced wyandotte roosters. Had a predator problem last fall and lost my only roo. I'm the only person in the world who orders straight run and gets one male...
I ended up with hens only and have some people wanting chicks this spring. I would be willing to drive a little ways if the price was right

LOL! No you aren't! There are two of us! I purchased 19 chicks (SR) and only got one roo! And he was killed by my son's dog's :(

We've since penned the dogs (trying to get rid of them since he just kinda "dumped" them here) and purchased a new roo ourselves. Good luck finding what you're looking for!

I have Channing Grisham line birds they are nice but I am at a point I need to introduce some new blood into the line to keep it going. I have hatching egg's and chicks normally year round but they are slow right now and trying to get all my fall birds hatched out is taking a little longer than anticipated.
Ok we'll that's where my line originates from also. I will need to add some new blood at some point, but perhaps we might want to swap birds since they originate from the same line. What do you think?

Yep try to find out how many years your birds are removed from the original breeder... if u both got your birds last year from Channing Grisham then there is not much difference... but i know u have both had them longer than that so you should be able to get a good out-cross and still stay in the same line...

Picked up 2 extra welsummer roosters this weekend out of oklahoma not sure of the bloodline yet I wont take delivery of them till 2/2 but I would be up to work with you to improve our lines my my egg's are nice an dark.

At least I'm not the only one! If I had wanted girls, I'd have gotten boys. Add that to a skunk that wiped out my 8-week-old pen (and sprayed my house dog, ew!) and the neighbors' dogs, I'm struggling to rebuild this year. It's disappointing that we've worked so hard and spent a lot, only to lose good birds to something that's not our fault. However, I think it has been a good life lesson for my daughter: things don't always go as planned so we suck it up and keep going!

I'll mention mine too. I ordered 6 straight run Buff Orpingtons from Cackle and got 7 pullets. Even the packing peanut was female. It's not unusual for my hatches to be 70% one sex or the other but occasionally you get an extreme.

How you face things that happen is how your daughter will learn to face things. Keep plugging away. There are good times ahead.

Howdy! Got a question..I'm selling hatching eggs-they are production reds. I got them from Ideal Poultry in TX. They are mixes, the roosters I have in there a black cooper marans, and a Basque. They are all beautiful! Just wondering how much should I be selling them for? Right now I'm selling $5.00 a dozen...I also ship, and I add that on as well, but I really would like to be getting some money back on these guys. If I'm not selling hatching eggs, then I'm selling eating eggs at $2.00 a dozen.

So what do y'all think? I am also looking into getting a website set up so I can be able to take orders, and people can see what I have available..I do plan on getting a pen set up for pure silkies, and pure polish. Any advice would be wonderful, I am really hoping that I can set things up right. I really want to offer to the masses so we can have these breeds be able to give others such joy and love as in my family have experienced! The lessons my daughter is learning from this is so priceless, I've not regretted this adventure once.

Thanks everyone!

Id like a few turk poults a week up to 3 or so months old. Hens prefered if they're old enough to tell. Don't really care what breed. No broad breasted white though.
Also copper marans chicks
