First of all, I want to say I'm sorry to all of those that have lost loved ones to any kind of accident and illness. It's very hard to loose a loved one. Second, thank you to everybody for the prayers and well wishes for my grandson, he's getting better. He's getting back to his hyper self. He just is getting to where he don't look like himself more and more everyday because of the swelling but that is to be expected. I expected it from the beginning. Thank you for all the kind words. I am taking care of myself as well. I did get some sleep last night although she slept also. When I did check on him he was asleep or the nurse as in tending to him.
As far as his mother
She has been under investigation several times by child services. Me and grandpa have had him most of his life except for about 3 years of it. We got custody of him in 05. Then she went straight and was acting like she was trying to d the right thing and be a good mother. So We signed him back over to her and it wasn't a couple of months and she was back to her normal self. I was so upset she fooled me. She won't fool me again if and when we get him back. She will act like a doting mother in their presence and he won't tell them any different. Unless he talks they won't do anything. It's a shame the children have to go thru what they do before the authorities will step in and help them. She tried to take him outside last night so she could smoke. If that was allowed he would be outside most of the time standing there while cars throw dirt and germs all over him just so she could smoke. I've already changed his cloths, hand washed them and have them in the dryer, changed his bedding and she ordered his food. She went out for a smoke before she did anything for him. She was suppose to keep an ear awake last night to give ma a break. Of course she didn't thats why he woke up wet. He's been given lots of fluids because of the antibiotics he's on. They can cause his kidneys to shut down so he has to drink alot to keep them working. She didn't get up when he started moving around to pee. So he wet the bed and he has no cloths here and i've been hand washing or using the washer to clean his cloths so he has clean cloths to wear and she hasn't done a thing. I had to keep reminding her to get him a bath since he can't get his hands or head wet. He has IV's in both wrists and has to be washed by one of us. I ended up getting his bath started and when a nurse came in I told her she needs to finish cause my back was about to give out. Which it was but if somebody else hadn't heard me say it she would have ignored me.
She is now curled up on the couch covered up. It wont be long and she will be asleep again. It is so hard to keep my cool with her acting as if everybody is required to tend to her childs needs while she sleeps. DH (grandpa) is working on a way to get him before he gets out of the hospital so he can be taken care of instead of let loose while she sleeps. If he insists he wants to go to our house she will let him. But she has to keep up appearances in order to not loose him. If she looses him she looses the welfare check and food stamps she gets for him. She sells the food stamps and his meds. Well not all the food stamps but almost half of them.
He's in a horrible situation but unless he talks or she gets caught DCS won't do a thing.
He is doing alot better today. He's actually eating good. It's been hard for him to eat because the muscles where cut and it hurt for him to chew. He's more swollen today but the doc said thats normal. It's the fluid getting infected that is the issue but he's not showing any signs of infection. I know he's very lucky to even be alive. It could have been much worse than it was. I just wish his mother could see this as a sign to be more cautious. It's apparent that didn't work because of the issue of wanting to take him outside so she can smoke. I was having my turn smoking snd she had to bring him downstairs and asked a guard to look after him so she could go outside to smoke. So I just came in when I saw her coming. Last night is when she tried to take him outside. This is a very dangerous town and he has no business outside after dark. Neither do either of us. There are guards everywhere and camera's too but none of them can get across the street in time to stop a bullet or knife. He certainly don't belong outside.
I'm hoping to catch his doctor after he leaves here to let him know what she will do if she gets the OK to take him outside. It's the plastic surgeon that comes to see him since he has no other medical problems other than sewing his head back together.
Hopefully he will listen to me and head the warning. If he tells her he can go outside she will just let him go outside unattended while she sleeps. I'm hoping they just keep him here till they take out his stitches and staples and all is safe and don't have to worry about infection or re-injuring himself. I would feel much better about him going back there if they just let him do his healing here. I'll stay as long as they feel he needs to stay. I have no problem at all.
Well it's 10 am here and the doc hasn't been in yet. He's been early all other days. I'll update ya'all later. I'll also post a current pic.
