The post office offers flat rate boxes for the heavy stuff, so if some crazy shipping prices come up ask for a flat rate box. I think it cost me $7 to ship mine out. I also use the USPS's website for shipping as well. I actually save $0.50 on everything I ship because I use the site rather then the store, and I schedule a pick up from home so I don't have to drop it off anywhere.

Given, its not exactly cheap... but I think it was worth it for the fun of it.

I may not do it every month!

I was shipping from Missouri to PA. The smallest flat rate box that I could fit a jar into was $10 or something. Our PO doesn't really do the online stuff, so I can't really have them pick them up. I asked about it and even though they are suppossed to, nobody knows how.

I shipped mine today. Hope it all makes it okay, but I packed it quite well, I think.

I won't say how much it cost, because I don't want to ruin the surprise! Sorry I didn't get it out by Saturday, but I am trying to clean and get ready for a garage sale next week, so I am busy right now!
I got mine yesterday-a jar of peach jam, and red raspberry jam! YUMMY!

I like the fact that it encouraged me to get my canning done sooner and to maybe branch out and try other things like the caramel apple jam!

I think it'd be fun to do it again, maybe not month after month, but like, quarterly or something.
