Yes that’s her! While she was off this morning I candled all 11 eggs and they’re coming along perfectly! Plus, my speckled Sussex didn’t lay in the broody nest today. It’s a good Wednesday.

They’re 10.5 days (halfway!) and they’re barnyard mix. Legbars, marans, EEs, who knows what will pop out. Hopefully some olives, if I keep them all the way to lay. As we have already discussed, I’ve got a few too many birds. :-D

Someone who took a lot of my Easter hatch birds gave them to me. They don’t have any pens setup this late in the summer so it’s just a free for all, hens choice, kind of situation.

It’s my VERY first broody hatch so let’s get real, they’re probably all staying.

Or at the very least all y’all are gonna be getting some care packages on your porch with chicks. . . .

So my chicks from the June Hatch a long are growing out nicely, I thought I’d share some pics of the ones I have left as a reminder to myself that I can do this! I sold 4 pullets, including my only OExColumbian Rock girl. I can’t resist a cute little kid picking out chicks though and they had me outnumbered 3 to 1! I have an early crower, I think it’s the biggest boy of the bunch! I’ve got two Marans (pullets?) and the rest are my OE over hyline reds or my Columbian Rock.
