August Hatch-A-Long

OMG!!! Congratulations on the new baby!!!:weeC’mon little paint! Just curious - how do you know the colors already?
Well, if I say it out loud enough times it is supposed to come true. :gig I was hoping the odds were in my favor, since the blue/splash hatched all blues. Wishful hoping, I call it. :)

Ok, fading fast here and need to make a decision, hopefully y’all will chime in in time... baby 1 has been out for about 5 hrs and is fully dry but alone, there are 4-5 pips in the incubator with her. I need to turn in for the night and won’t be back down for 9 hours or so. Do I pull her and pop her alone into the brooder tote? Humidity has dropped Back down to 55% I don’t like to pull singles and prefer them to have a snuggle buddy but DH and my ride home has been up since 4;30

I’d leave her, especially since your humidity is already low, but that’s just me. She’s probably going to squawk and be a little unhappy tonight if alone in the brooder anyway.

Ok, going to add a little water with my straw to bring the humidity up, showers and laundry being done in the building probably changed/upped it as well as the hatchling. We usually have high humidity issues here, so I actually work at keeping it stable and down mostly... though it’s been drier lately.

I’m not used to having one alone in the Hatcher this long so I’m a little nervous leaving her though

I get how you feel. One is here. The other pipped at wrong end and only one other possibility. I’m leaving it in there as long as possible. To encourage the others!!!

Well, the bf is right. Even though my son is grown, I still have that weird Mommy “sense”...but now, with chickens? Woke up out of the blue, went to the barn. Voilà a chick hatching. LOL. The second egg hatched without incident.

Here is the paint Silkie I was so looking forward to..:thYeah, that didn’t go exactly as I pictured it in my head. Oh well, who needs a paint (or splash) Silkie anyway!?!:plbb The little partridge is a really cute little dust mop. Looking forward to seeing it fluffed.

Beautiful little silkies!!!:love

Had two ducklings hatch this morning. One died towards the end of zippering. Two others are still working on getting out of their eggs.
