August Hatch-A-Long

Here's some of my fuzz butts! 2 blue DL barnies so far and 3 buff orphingtons. Another barnie has externally pipped and theres a crack in another. Its day 20 so here's hoping more hatch!

How cute! And you've got early birds, I'm jealous! My eggs are officially (almost) 2 days late, but they're working! I've got 4 Silkies out, 1 zipping now and it looks like most of the other eggs have pipped (though its hard to tell with the soccer game going on in the incubator)!

Good luck everyone, loving all of the chick pics :love

We've got chicks!

Our broody died on day 15, so I put her 4 eggs in a makeshift incubator, but I didn't want to hold out hope as the eggs had gotten cold, and the incubator temp was fluctuating. Today I came home to cheeping! Two Rhode Island bantams hatched on day 23, and they are so tiny. Our two Araucanas didn't make it, one did not develop and the other died nearly full grown.

Can't wait to see them!

When should I see my first pip or hear them peeping in the shell? IT was day 21 lastnight at 8pm, and nothing has happened yet and it is now 4pm. No rocking, peeping, pips. I am getting worried.

What was the temp in your incubator and is it forced or still air? And...did you calibrate your thermometer before you started?
I ask because if your temp was low, they'll be late. If you didn't calibrate your therm, it could be reading the wrong temperature.

My temp was 101-102. I calibrated my therm before I started incubating. Still air incubator. I shines the light in last night and no visible pips, not even internal. I hope I have some chicks by monday!
