Day 19 came and went with no change.
With the higher humidity I'm finding it hard to keep the temprature at 99. it dips to 97 and holds.
Is this going to stall the hatch or harm them or am I just being overly worried?

Well I caved and opened the bator to put in a stronger bulb. Temp is steady again at 99. And a bonus, the humidity went up to 74% from the hotter bulb.
Day 20 No change.
I've a feeling these chicks are going to make me wait past the 21 day mark. I may have to switch over to the September hach-a-long LOL I think i'm the last one here.

Nope I still have at least one more due the next couple days.

here are the 3 newest turkeys and a Ee chick!

The ideal temp for eggs is 99.5 with a forced air incubator, up to and including hatch. I would think that a dip in temps down to 97 would slow down the hatch.

Feel free to head on over to the September hatch-a-long if your little guys make you wait. I'm an incubator addict, so I'm in September thread as well, lol. Glad your stronger bulb brought the temp up.

ok , these guys were placed in with pointy end down, got 3/4 mal pipped mal positioned, 1 made it 1 is still working on it other one died, they were in egg turner that had them standing on end so kinda frustrated here with this, need to figure out whats causing mal positioning

Incubation was with fan forced at 99.5 humidity was running about 50% up to day 18 removed vent plug , laid them down and dropped to 98.5 and 70% at lock down and spiked to 87 on day 20 when 2 chicks hatched early when get internal pips day 21 was at 97.5 humidity is stay the same
3 feet over head 2 died
3 beak away from air cell 1 died
1 died showed no activity and opened to do eggtospy on 9 remaining eggs that showed no activity and it started moving, these appear to be 5-7 days behind the rest of the hatch so left remaining 8 and will pull if they start to smell

Total up to date live chicks 4
needs more coffee
Let me see if I can help shed some light. You've covered the possible issues of insufficient turning and small end up or down as well as egg storage time and handling.
If your temp and humidity are guaranteed to be accurate, that rules out high humidity and too high or too low temperature.
Retarded development can be a cause of malposition and likely in your case since some of yours are behind the rest.
Other possibilities are old breeders, round eggs, very large eggs and nutritional deficiencies - especially vitamins A and B 12. The latter causes a head between thighs malposition. An excess of selenium can cause malposition too.
Lineolic acid deficiency causes slow development and 75% end up with a head over right wing malposition.

got a question for you more seasoned incubator hatchers, saw no activity at candle at end of day 22 so opened one up to do eggtospy and it was still alive but looks to be 5-7 days behind the others that already hatched, all the eggs were stored at same time same way and put into incubator at same time, had anyone else ever had this happen? good thing I didn't turn off the incubator, there are a few like that
That again could be a fatty acid (lineolic acid deficiency) and the retarded development contributes to malpositions.

97 will delay development by quite a bit.
My night time temps are more than likely going to be about mid 60s to 70s for the next 2 months or so. If im reading right other places i should be ok to put them outside without heat at around 3.5 weeks?
They should be fine unless you only have one or two chicks.

I am LOVING all these babies that are hatching!! :love:love

Mine are a week old today, and just moved into the bigger brooder. Wing feathers are starting to come in nicely, and I can already see beautifully symmetrical tail feathers on at least three of them! They are perching on their branches and scratching in the shavings for spilled food. I’m definitely having fun watching these guys learn about their world.
