Hello friends
August is 4 months 16 days to be exact.
I keep switching tracks about August's gender.
We know the breed is a barnyard mix.
Faverolle mom and uncertain the father. Might be a Marin might be a mix himself,EE's are on the ranch among several other breeds.
Gender is the main issue.
For a while now consensus has leaned towards hen. But I am wondering about the color changes August is showing and the tail feathers growth lately.
August has a very light comb and no wattles.
I see no spur buds.
August has only 4 toes wheresas Faverolles usually have 5 on each?
August has feathered greyish legs and very long middle front toes.
I have heard no crowing, mainly just clucks, honks and idk how to describe it...screechy long elevating craws?
I have seen no signs of eggs.
August will squat, momentarily when I hold my hand over and place it down on Augusts back. But it generally goes from squat to sqautting walk to getting away from being hovered over of gently held down.
I know some submissive roos will squat when they are submitting.
So here are a bunch of pics I took last night. It would be great if I could get some input from others.
I very much appreciate the help.
PLEASE NOTE
August is a rescued house chicken.
I have had Auggie since day one of hatching.
So we are the flock.
Please no negativity. I take every precaution for both Auggie and ourselves.
Thank you all so much for your help and understanding.
