Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

You just found a duckling on your front lawn?!?!
Was it yours? Or a wild one?!?!

It's just one of the ducks that come and go on the river. I heard a lot of commotion out there just before dark yesterday. We saw the ducklings swimming past earlier and I'd say the swamp harrier or sea eagle cleaned the rest of them up. This little guy just seemed to be following the adult ducks , but I didn't see the momma. It's quite happy in the brooder with the chick and the rabbit. I don't have any ducks but we get lots of ' blow ins '.

Ahh, ok I get you.
Poor other ducklings.
I am considering getting 2 KC ducklings but...but...I am not sure.lol.

They are really cute when they are ducklings, but they are so messy. They sling food around and swill dirt in the water. We ended up with over 60 here and had to trap and get rid of them. They used to camp in on the verandah , drove me round the bend. These ones are from the duck park in town, they swim up the inlet looking for a free feed.
I see your thinking about getting some Wyandotte . Great birds, sticky beaks and mine lay right threw the winter. I highly recommend the breed. They are very pretty too.

Yes i have about 40 quails all up. They are best not to be kept with chickens but are fine in the bottom of avaries for birds or by themselves. Quails are a little flighty but mine are rather tame. They will come up and jump in your lap when you go in to feed them. No rain here. I will be watching the cyclone this week hoping you are safe from it.
Thanks for the info. Re the cyclone, it should be fine even if it crosses as it is just a baby one. It is VERY wet & windy but that is nothing to even do with the cyclone so will be in bog city once the cyclone rain arrives. We live in such a beautiful but cruel country (weather wise), where one area of the same state has too much of what the rest of the state requires. But we are SO lucky just to be Australians, weather moods and all.

Yeah I don't think I will. I have already had 2 and they where not 100% fun.
60 free loaders!! Wonderful.lol.

Stalking me are you.....haha, yes I was considering them. Can you answer my questions? I had forgotten you had them, do you sell fertile eggs?

As far as I know there is no red laced blue. If you google ' Wilson's Wyandotte 's ' he has pictures of most of the colours and a few that he has made up.
I only purchased a breeding pair, but my young ones are pol. They are a project though and you do get variations in the clutch. I think that the colours are lovely but some of the die hard purists cull hard for type , lacing and comb. My lot are a little spoilt.
1000

1000

1000

But that could be said of all my birds.
Come August , I'll have eggs ready for post.

Nice chicken pictures Ash.
This lot here don't look like rocks at all. They have the face of a Malay-like thing as well.lol.

And yet both parents were quite attractive Barred Rocks.
It will be interesting to see how they grow out and what I can breed from them.

(I can never get this stupid "quote" thing on here to work!)
