OMG have you ever had one of those days.... A guy wanted a marans roo and as I had a spare he asked me to send pics.. He was mega happy with the bird but then he asked are they wormed and vaccinated... Fair question.... I worm but don't vaccinate as I have never seen any real benefit too it and I have never lost a bird to illness in the whole time I have had them... I not a big fan of injecting chickens with stuff for just in case ... but I do understand why people do... Anyways I get email back telling me how terrible I am etc etc cause is place is disease free and I could be giving him something... Yes i understand that but don't buy if you don't want to its a free world...I did reply that my flock is also diseases free and that I love my animals and would never sell anything that could be slightly not right... He responded again that he was going to report me to the rspca for not vaccinating..... I didn't reply again. I have no probs if he does my birds are all healthy and well taken care of but gee really I was doing you a favour.... I offered him my spare roo for $10...

I've just had my chicks vaccinated for coryza, but did so because it was $1 a chick and I only had 9. They came through it no worse for wear but I understand everyone has their own way of doing things and I respect that.

It takes all kinds to make a world.

We have finally finished out sky tunnel. We chickened out of cutting holes in the coop & decided to use a window. Fortunately the window is just above a perch the chickens can get to with ease so we just need to make a ladder for the inside of the coop. I've placed a few blueberries on the coop end of the tunnel & we will see who is brave enough to eat them. That's Stampy's head at the bottom of this pic - named by my son after the Minecraft Stampy.

We have the first one up for inspection. The one advantage of constructing the run after the chooks were in the coop was that they were not fazed in the least by the drilling & power screwing. I also had my cat, Rosie, jump into the run with the chickens to see what I was doing. She didn't go for the chickens & they didn't peck her despite following her around. They are bigger than her now so she'd probably come off second best anyway. I'm so pleased!
