Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Are you noticing any spillage with those? I was going to make that kind of feeders, but went with the bucket model in the end since it was a lot cheaper, and seemed like an easier installation.
The bends only cost $3 all up, if this saves feed it will pay for itself. Besides must enjoy life.

Quote: Here the 90deg elbow is 5-6 euros, add to that a 45deg angle at about 5 euros, the 2 meter pipe about 20 euros (or 1 meter for 15 euros), and the cap maybe 3 euros. Other option is using a cap and Y piece instead of the elbow and angle, but that comes to about 12 euros as well. I used a trash can and storm vent for a total of about 8 euros instead, I can fit about 10 liters of feed into it, which lasts them pretty long.

That would work, thanks. Do you use 1 for food and 1 for water. (You might have to find a friendly plumber!!!!!)

I do like these, thinking out of the box, well done.

Oh, and this model if from the "No waste 5 gallon feeder" thread, they use an elbow with a bucket there, I just modified the idea to use the storm vent as it was cheaper and seemed to do the job better,

hi aussies,

im planning on getting a new breed of chook this spring and i have three breeds that i want. so can you guys help me narrow it down to one breed? so if you have any pros or cons please tell me :)

im wanting:
- lavender perkins because i love the lavender colour and their biggness.
- Bantam cochin also because of their biggness and the colour range
- Wyandotte because i love their laced feathers and the colours

im not wantting anyof these breeds for a certian thing (like eggs or meat) but just cos' i want more chickens!! :D :D
i will also need to find an aussie breeder that has these breed so i can buy fertile eggs of them.

thanks :)
anyone else have any comments??

I like the idea but i wonder how it would go with mice and rats getting in there? Being bush we have so many rats/mice out here I fear with something like that they would get into it. Can you keep us updated how it goes?
It is a sad fact of life that if you have birds you will have mice, this is a constant battle. I have 2 cats and Tex is deadly on mice. Will post an update latter.
