My father used to swear by a mixture of sump oil and kerosene.
I use vegetable oil with a little insecticide dissolved in it.

That sounds nasty, I think I'll stick with Vaseline and sulphur or vegetable oil.

This is the whole roost, I know it doesn't look like a 5 star chicken hut like some chicken owners it's but simple and practical which is all I need.

wood and metal actually looks quit effective together, don't you think.

The morning pop door, just needs a little ramp for them now.

Well done Luke. I know that you and I and at least Ash all have recycled coops. They are the best things to have OH and like Ash you have green grass Lol. I am so envious of people with green grass at the moment ours is crunchy brown.

Thanks everyone, the hen even seem to like (not that they shouldn't) and satay, come to the north coast it's very green here most of the year round, but jst you wait in about 2 months time I reckon the whole run will just be a big dust bowl (hens destroy all vegetation).

Did you find a broody hen replacement?

no, i tried incubating them myself but when i candled them at a week there was no development

on a brighter note my nephew gave me two silver laced wyandotts as a chrissie present
