Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Don't know about chicken swings, but we have one of the double seat swing chairs in our yard and a few of our chooks love it, but it only seems to be the handled ones. The ones that don't like being picked up by people don't go near it.

We only have three chick and we have two young daughters, so our chooks are very much handled. LOL!! Poor little chooks.
Thought it might give them a little bit of entertainment in the morning before we let them out of the run.

Quote: At least you don't have screaming, fighting kids for neighbours. Usually it's easy enough to ignore... until my younger sibling invites them over. One time they spent a couple hours chasing my chickens around the yard. At least the chooks know to give small children a wide berth now (unless they happen to be holding food).

I've never tried them, but if you have enough things to occupy them in their day - and you're going to free range them anyway I wouldn't think them necessary. I don't know anyone who has them so don't know if they are a gimmick or not.

I too would be interested to hear from anyone who has one.

Say good bye to you garden now btw.

NNNOOOO! NOT THE GARDERN!!!! Hahaha! I'm not the gardener in our house, that's hubby's gig. Our yard is very non fussy, mostly bamboos, helaconias, and citrus. The only one plant I would cry over is our little coffee tree.

My kids have all nearly grown up I still have 2 teens. But my grand daughters love chasing the chicks. They sit them on their lap on the swing set and swing and sing to them. The 3 year old loves the chase she picks them up cuddles them kisses their back and let them go, then goes for the next one. When they come over I'm sure the chicks say "Oh NO Pipers here run for cover" Haha. She loves them.

In our run we have hibiscus and citrus and the chooks have pecked everything they can jump up to it looks like we have sheered of the bottom. But the citrus are left alone I did read they don't like citrus. I have found we don't get anywhere near as many fruit fly since they have been foraging under the trees. Though they have made it one big dust bowl and they have edged my lawn as far as their necks can reach.

Hubby would probably loose it if the lawn gets chewed up (he is VERY lawn proud)!

I find it all quite funny as the whole chick idea was his. I never liked the idea and now I totally love them.
