Question: is the cuckoo colour sexlinked for all breeds? I have a couple chicks whom I dont know who the dad is, but a couple are starting to look cuckoo. Which would mean it was the polish rooster...

If they are mixed it doesn't mean anything, as I have got a mixed breed pullet running around that I thought was male as it had a very good head spot.

If, the seller can be trusted, they should not be hybrids, because she said they were all marans, just the colours got mixed up.
and I think the ones that look cuckoo can be said to be pure? As I have read that the wheatens do crop up fairly often, as they were used early on in quite a few marans colours.
please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm more just thinking aloud here.

I dunno much about Marans so not sure regarding whether yellow Maran chicks exists??

I think they do, but not entirely sure. Wheatens are brown and white, so I imagen their chicks would be yellow?

Thanks very much, I've always been curious how it works! I guess you don't know any way of sexing the yellow chicks at this point? I imagine I just have to be patient at this point, but its difficult

I haven’t been wrong THAT many times lol… just with the ones I want to keep and I sware black and blue they are girls and they turn out to be boys..!! now we all know why I have so many cocks in my life
