Question: is the cuckoo colour sexlinked for all breeds? I have a couple chicks whom I dont know who the dad is, but a couple are starting to look cuckoo. Which would mean it was the polish rooster...
If they are mixed it doesn't mean anything, as I have got a mixed breed pullet running around that I thought was male as it had a very good head spot.
 
If, the seller can be trusted, they should not be hybrids, because she said they were all marans, just the colours got mixed up.
and I think the ones that look cuckoo can be said to be pure? As I have read that the wheatens do crop up fairly often, as they were used early on in quite a few marans colours.
please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm more just thinking aloud here.
Why don't you drop her an email with pics of your chicks and ask her about their gender?
