So on doing more reading and research this is what’s wrong with my little one… which makes sense seen as I think the cat may have bumped or stepped on the buttons to the incubator coz when I checked it this morning the temp was at 34ish* and not 36-37* doing much better now I’ve upped the temperature again… and it’s slowly retracting back into the body… might take a while but it seems I’m doing the right thing. So here’s what’s wrong:
“String navels are caused by low temperatures during the hatch process leading to a slowing of the retraction of the yolk sac. This means that the naval was open longer than normal during hatch and exposed to a relatively higher bacteria level than a normal hatching chick.
