Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

So on doing more reading and research this is what’s wrong with my little one… which makes sense seen as I think the cat may have bumped or stepped on the buttons to the incubator coz when I checked it this morning the temp was at 34ish* and not 36-37* doing much better now I’ve upped the temperature again… and it’s slowly retracting back into the body… might take a while but it seems I’m doing the right thing. So here’s what’s wrong:

String navels are caused by low temperatures during the hatch process leading to a slowing of the retraction of the yolk sac. This means that the naval was open longer than normal during hatch and exposed to a relatively higher bacteria level than a normal hatching chick.

So glad you worked it out!

That's great! Hope it makes a full recovery! 😊

What show would that be?? Lol I’m very big on showing… I’m even part of my local club
I want to do more showing, that was my first in years. I am still fairly new to showing that's why I asked for a walk though of my chooks. I am not super comfortable posting my town name, sorry.
Update: little one is doing much better… now been moved from incubator to brooder… peeping and slowly starting to move around… tho it does look like it’s got splayed legs so here we go another challenge….
I hope you are able to fix its legs, I recently fix one of my baby's legs.

Update: this morning’s hatcher is doing great not sure of the extent to the leg issues as yet but the little monkey won’t stay in his “cot”

Also had a second one hatch not long ago… has the same abdomen issue only this one has a lot of blood (and no I didn’t help it out) it seems very weak but still peeping (when I can hear it over Izumi my 5 weekish old jap bantam chick)

I've only just caught up with the thread, @Poultry mum sorry to hear about you chicks, and glad that he's doing better. I can't really help, as that's the sort of thing that I struggle with.
@Somewhere_In_The_Clouds what kind of chickens do you get in the shows around you? Here all they seem to have is bantams, and while I don't have anything against them, they aren't really one of my interests. If there was Sussex or Orpingtons I would find it a lot more interesting.
