Yay hubby says today u know I hated your chooks but they have grown on me the way they wander the yard. Then late this arvo I says should stick some fertiles under the black girl and he says yeah that would be great for the kids !

Hmmm. I would keep an eye on the white one then. That comb looks rather big for 9 weeks. In some breeds slow feathering can indicate males too. Prob sexing is good but not 100%.


Oh really?? I've see photos of 9 week olds and they are a lot bigger... What age do they start crowing? I read around 8 weeks??? And she is no way making any sounds.. And the other girls have bigger crests then her :|

My young marans roos are just trying to crow but not very good at it and they are around 5 months.it depends on the breed as to when they crow and how big the comb is etc. look for hackle feathers coming in for boys and much thicker legs usually.
