Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

haha, no.
The two hens are from a farm and my rooster is half show half backyard stock.
So no these offspring wont be. I'm planing on breeding large birds that lay large eggs.

Ah. Don't know why I thought you had bought eggs for some reason.
So we shall shortly be meeting pew jr then :)

I can't believe how messy the Bator is with hair fluff everywhere ! What's the best sanitizer to use ?

I usually vacuum the fluff out first, then use a diluted solution of Milton antibacterial solution, rinse and then dry out in the sun. They say not to use bleach based products in the incubator but I figure if it is safe for babies it should be ok.

Good luck with your hatch Luke

Good luck Luke. Mine are due 3rd Jan. I haven't candled them yet as I am too scared that I have somehow stuffed them up lol.( I haven't done anything different to normal ) Pressure when you get eggs from someone you know lol. I wanna do rexy proud :)

I'd candle them sooner rather than later, you might be able to pop them in the bator. I've had a few chicks hatch from that scenario and a few that were just too cold to survive. I have a mama who has been hiding out too. I'm not sure how far along she is. I found her, (Isabel) under my house with a trillion eggs underneath her. I doubt they will all hatch so I may have to take some out so she at least has some chicks in the end. Otherwise I might have to go buy some (oh no) as I haven't had the bator going for chickens for about a month. I'm going to set again tonight :)

I am sure like me you will prob get lots . The bush mummas or in your case under the house mummas seem to be determined to hatch no matter what.

No worries Satay. Plenty more where they came from. His fertility is basically 100%, but the hatch rate for the posted eggs hasn't been very good. So, no pressure!!!! I weakened and filled the incubator yesterday. AND, I got my calendar this morning, beautifully wrapped by Sam. Thank you very, very much. It was a lovely thought. :pop

Ages since I have been on (again!) I LOVE your Pekins, I have been trying to get a black Pekin or frizzle for two years & finally just heard of 3 black frizzle chicks. Hopefully at least one hen & the breeder is more than happy to have any roosters back for breeding. You can;t ask for better than that.
