The flock aggression has reached tipping point and tomorrow I will be less 3 chooks. I opened the coop today to find one baby chick with a bare back and bloody spots from feathers being torn out. He also has broken pin feathers that were bleeding.

He is in quarantine and the 2 red hens and the rooster are going tomorrow. I have reached my limit and this behavior will not be allowed to spread. Already today some of the juvies have been a bit rougher than usual so I am pulling the pin. The mama and her babies will be seperated for a few days and the 3 troublemakers are being rehomed.

I figure removing the 3 instigators will allow the rest of the flock to settle into better habits.

Unfortunately the injured chick is very traumatized and sore and tries to rip into me when i handle him. It is making treatment very difficult. He is very untame and this too will be rectified in coming weeks. I allowed Mama's 6 babies to be a little wilder but I am now reminded what a headache this is when it comes to handling them. So, many treats will be dolled out and affections gained.

Hope the removal of the nasty ones settles down your flock. I have found that if I ever have a nasty one. I take it out and separate it for a week or so then reintroduce and it seems to settle them down.

Sorry about your chooky aggression @Sidhe13 I guess I've been lucky in that regard where most aggression calms down in a day or two and no real blood is shed.

You must segregate different age groups.
I only integrate young hens into older flocks at point of lay.
