Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Some new pics as its been a while since i put any up. 1st one is a blue red ara x i bred, 2nd is a silverlaced wyandotte i got for free as she was going through the most atrocious moult. 2nd is my new very imperfect araucana roo as i lost my stunning boy. the new ones colour however is better for what im aiming for. his name is Beelzabub. 4th pic is crele and cuckoo araucana pullets i bred here the creles have white legs

5th is a blue red cuckoo i bred also. hes stunning but not a standard colour. his type, comb and eyes are perfect and im going to have a play with his colours. need a name for him, any suggestions??

All your chickens here are just beautiful Deej211. I gather you have been experimenting with breeding for colour ?

So glad you took on the silver laced Wyandotte - she is really stunning, and obviously grew back the most gorgeous of feathers after a horrid moult. .

As for your new red roo and a suggested name : --- " Cardinal "--- ( a mostly red coloured bird found in the northern hemisphere ).

"The Phoenix" also comes to mind as it was ( in legend ) supposed to be mainly red in colour.

Cheers ........

My daily Carl update :). Still with us this morning. Bit nerve wrack that first peek under the cover in the morning. She is drinking well though quite noisy, almost like her beaks clacking all the time and I gave her some of her crumble that had been moistened first. She was eating it but would dribble watery saliva out her mouth now and then. I just let her eat for a couple minutes then have taken it off her to let that settle so it doesn't all come back up like the water seems to be and will just feed her in small goes today I think. Don't want to stretch the crop too much today either I'd think.

Vet wasn't there when I picked her up, they gave me antibiotics (oh joy love trying to get those down her) but last time they also gave me straight probiotic powder so will chase that up this morning.

Poor Carl that is a big mass to have removed. I am glad she seems to be doing well so far.

and Ugh to Monday!

Hey appps I have been thinking of you and Carl over the weekend; I hope she is on the improve. That is some pretty gross looking crop contents

Anniebee no site problems for me but then I was not on much over the weekend.

Fancy, as always … beautiful pics! Yep, I am with you on the no more tomatoes

Nice shots also Deej211. Love the colouring on the Blue Red Cuckoo. Because his colours reminded me of fire … name suggestions are Flame or Blaze.

No real dramas here …. Our Pond Fish developed a fungus and are now swimming around in medicated water and looking much better already.

Got a lecture from the guy at the aquarium shop because we use a solar powered pump/filter/waterfall which, obviously, does not run at night. Apparently we should have a “dedicated 24/7 filter/pump or they will suffocate” .. my 5 or so year old fishies did not get that memo

After 5 years of no problems, I put it down to that very hot week, warmer water etc.

Girls are all good. KiKi laid her first egg back from broodiness and the first egg for over a week at Bambrook Bantams. I had to buy a half dozen at the supermarket yesterday to be scrambled up for their breakfast tomorrow

Update on Carl. She doesn't seem to want to eat in the morning, did the same thing yesterday so I'm thinking the crop is emptying a bit slow so she is still feeling full. She did eventually eat yesterday afternoon though so hopefully will do the same today. I shall say we are out of the woods when I see her first normal looking poop. Still just liquidy so far.

She is looking quite sprightly though.

Lovely chookens.  I love the silver-laced wyandotte, she's very pretty.  And I love the little sticky-up hairdos.  And I love the beautiful burnished copper colour on the last one.  And I love....

thank you ladies. I love his colour. Hes pretty stunning. Ooooh i like Blaze. That suits him i think. Cardinal is also pretty great. I had a gold spangled hamburg called phoenix once. She was gorgeous.

Fancy, what exactly is your little blue laced girl called? The breed colour I mean? That is gorgeous feathering!

Am I the only one with about 15 breeds they want to add to their collection? Lol

Even the dangly bits?

I found another egg in the bushes (other side of the "garden"/wilderness). It could have been there since the big girls first moved in, because there was another one nearby "back then". How did I find the egg, I hear nobody ask? My little girls went on a "nature hike" in the bushes.
Chicken hikes - that sounds like fun, for them.

My chickens probably wish they could go hiking.

appps, hopefully Carl will have that healthy poop today.

I may be doing my first chicken bath in the near future. Sprinkles butt looks a bit pasty so I'll need to do wash it & check it out.

The fun bit is going to be catching her. Neither her nor Pearl are very friendly (to us) since being raised by Snowy. I think I might wait until I can get my daughter to help. What 10 year old girl wouldn't love a chance to bath a chicken.
