Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Sorry about your chook. I'm not a fan of cats.. Bloody killing machines without much of a purpose in my opinion. I mean native cats is totally different but feral introduced cats or domestic cats that people don't keep in.. :he

K Riggs I just candled my eggs. It looks like 9 of my Cayuga eggs are good 1 I'm not its a bit dirty to see properly and 2 probably no but again a bit hard to see. The ones I got from Fancy some look like they are ok didn't take too close a look they haven't been in long. The ones my friend wanted me to try, well lets say it doesn't look like the rooster is doing his job maybe he just doesn't fancy these girls. Here I was worried I'd be inundated with chicks.

Hi, all -

I'm actually american, but I may be moving to Australia in a few years, and so by the time I start raising chickens, it will probably be there.

I have a question about chickens in Australia: does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for the friendliest hens there, who are also good layers? I'm looking for particularly friendly birds, and I've been given several suggestions, but all by americans, and I don't know what kind of chickens are common to Australia. Any ideas? I know some people have told me that just paying attention, petting, talking to them will be enough, whatever breed... but I've heard some other opinions, too, so I'm not sure what to believe. Thanks!

Sessa

Ooh, good news about the Cayugas! I'm holding out till day 10 to do mine. Good luck with the rest :) I have been looking at my goose and chicken eggs when I eat them and all mine are fertile so my boys are all doing well haha! I will incubate some Araucana and geese soon i guess.

I'm relieved my new ducks were eating finally today!

Good luck with all the eggs I can't wait to hear updates :)
