Australorp Pride! Let's see those pics!

Here's some of mine ... they were down by the mailbox waiting for something they've ordered from the interwebs ... but ONE of the shameless hussies wandered into the street!

My flock's former union leader Matilda has been accepted back into the flock. A little love and attention and they are now no longer picking on her. She's no longer the union leader, of course ... but they STILL haven't told me who is! Coq Au Vin (rooster, middle management) can't get them to fess up to it. Hermione (the alpha female) won't tell me either, but she seldom gives me the time of day.

A friend if mine breeds blue Aussies and mille fleur d'uccles. I really really wanna reload my little incubator one last time. But I can't decide which eggs to choose. My 3 little blue babies are so pretty! I'm leaning in that direction. But the little banty chickens are cute too.

Just as a suggestion... If you decide on the Blue Aussies, it's best to breed them back to the Blacks. You would get half Blacks and half Blues in the new chicks. Doing this helps to improve the lacing on the feathers in the Blue offspring's.

I'm finding the variation in chickens fascinating as I look at everyone's photos. They are hard though to get their little faces all looking the same direction, I think I took 20 photos.

Mace, love your story. It's cool how you "converse" with your rooster. I talk to my menagerie the same way, now the baby girls seem to be discussing things constantly and they do seem to like being talked to when I pick each up.

Yesterday, my rooster needed a stern 'talking to' ... he came at me, I happened to have a rake in my hand and blocked the attack. Seriously, literally, I calmly put the rake down and he calmly waited for a second. I turned to him, bowed slightly (and I *THINK* he did as well!) then he came at me again and a gave him 'the boot'. We have a weird way of understanding each other.
