I have got 10 out of Bob's #4 pen & 10 out of his #2 pen. I also have eggs coming from Tigercreek's original bird's next week and maybe some eggs from Hipps in NC. So keep your fingers crossed for me.

I've been hoping you would post pics soon. I know I always enjoy Kurt's pics!

the babies out in the heated a frame

Its a mixed group, some orps , some aussies..Super sharp little aussies, nice work Chet and Guys!! I might be the lucky one, looks like there are at least 4 pullets in there..little more time will tell on them..all hatched blk color... you know how it is, they are everywhere in there..hard to get a group shot..the odd colored ones are orp. Once I fence off bigger outside areas for them can take better pics..

throwing in a pic of the buff just for kicks.

Bob Whitneys Australorp Rooster visiting the baby buffs..

Well, I just wish it would warm up here..it is just barley 40 degrees here this morning..the babies come out then run right back inside where its warm....Its supposed to be beautiful here this weekend so hopefully get the babys out in yard pen and take some good pics..impressive babys..Im going to breed the girls back to the whitney rooster..Some go to Chet and I will hatch some..The whitney birds thou he has worked inside a closed flock for a long time, are very healthy robust long lived and fertile long time..produce beautiful tails with the right hens so this will be interesting...last weeks pic.

There were a few blk orp in this group that went to a family in upstate NY for a youth to work on and show later this year..The family went out to midwest and bought blk orps , but 2 of them developed a neurological problem , wasnt mereks but a bit of a mystery..so they are being treated it might be weakness in the back and or legs as nothing showed up in bloodwork.. and doing better but he wouldnt have any show birds This year...

.he fell in love with mine so begged me for some...he would tell you that too...for a year.....he was not going to take no for an answer LOL!.....took me a while but I finnally hatched a few for him....the wife told me dad and son stand over the brooder and babies and stare at them all the time..there is a very wide cockeral in that box..think hes going to be nice for them I kind of wanted to keep that one, but gotta give these kids a hand up if they are that interested in something, Im happy to help out..if he has a few nice hens from the midwest birds then he might make some really nice birds... ..

I had to mark the blk orp as they hatched , for a little while you almost cant tell them apart except they are quite a bit wider than australorp in the head and body....the orange dot on the head made it a cinch to just box his babies without having to search them out....they showed up after them with bells on they were so happy..the baby australorp as they get older have a very classy look , really liking them ....I think a couple of them are going to be super nice..they just need some time..

Lynne, It was in the 30's here this morning and we had a hard frost. I told someone a couple of weeks ago I was not going to complain about the cool weather after the summer we had last year.
I will take one of these any day versus a 100F plus day.
