Age makes a difference!

Both could easily be pullets looking like they to at 5 weeks.

Enjoy them!

Thank you Aveca. I contacted Robert Whitney like you suggested. He & his wife are very nice people. I was looking for a young roo, he didn't have any extras so........................... I bought 8 chicks from him !!

Ross and Chet, Welcome back.
Chet, say it ain't so.Trading your Harley for a JEEP????? Sacrilege!!!
This is the first day without rain so I am finishing up my 5th coop.
I will try to get pics of the Tigercreek 4 and the Hupp 5 in a couple of days.
The raccoon rampage is slowing down like the song " another one bites the dust " boom boom.
Kurt
Yep, been all over the country and have the bad back and numb hands to prove it......................when it hurts to ride, the fun is gone. Not everyone can stay healthy. Ive been there done that and I don't need to prove anything to anybody, just glad Im still alive to talk about it. How many of you have hit a herd of cattle at 55 mph at night and got up and rode away? I did!
So yeah, lookin for a Jeep I can cruise the desert day or night and enjoy what Im doin.
Its not if your going to crash your sled, its when........................hadn't had a major wreck on any motorcycle since 1965 until 10 years ago and it finally caught up with me. Time to hang up the saddle boys!

Dan,
The brand is Blueseal out of Pa. I believe the Purina Layena is 15 or 16% Protein. As far as combs go I don't keep 7 or 8 points, only 4,5,and 6. Do not count the points on the back blade, they don't count, if you know what I am talking about. I don't bother with weighing till they are much older or around show time. I am more concerned with body type and shape. No pinched or high tails is number one when I am culling early. You have to be careful with culling cockerels too early, they take a while to really mature. I can't tell you how many birds i have given away or sold that turned out awesome and I wish I had kept them. That Urch hen I just lost to the raccoon was one of my best breeders and I am not happy.I hope this helped. I am going on vacation for a week so I won't be on the thread fo a while.
Kurt
Yeah, same here, anything over 6, I don't keep, and that is females also unless Im hard up for laying hens, then I just don't use them for breeding.

Gonna get pics and post a few of my Gilbert birds here in a minute! Chet, I have lost a few Good friends to the road down through the years. It Sucks! My Dad started riding in his teens and is now 77 and still rides almost every week!
