Australorps breed Thread

MeanV2, 8 weeks!!!!!!! Omg they are huge! Mine are 5 weeks and they are a quarter of that size!

They will change a lot week to week and 3 weeks will make a huge difference! The wife asked today how many Chickens are you going to get?

I promised her no more than 5,000

I am pretty pleased with them and they have a long way to go but are already starting to show some good overall type. They are getting spoiled! Right now it has been a battle with these darn gnats. I'll be glad when they run their life cycle.

My dearest husband brought home 9-way scratch today!

All of my chicks are between 5 weeks and 9 weeks. Is it alright to feed this or should I give in and make the trip to town for my normal food?
A little bit is fine. Make sure they have chick grit and or regular grit. I would mix them and let them pick out the size they need.

I just noticed today that their butt fluff is really getting poofy!!! It wasn't even that fluffy yesterday! FLUFFY BUTTS!!!! I'm so excited!! I am having mosquito and chigger problems, no gnats, do gnats bite? If not be glad, I'm going broke on bug repellent.

I spent $54 yesterday on things to try and help the girls deal with them. Gnats can & do kill a lot of chickens.

Google it or search BYC!

Quick genetics question, if I breed a splash Austrolorp Roo with my two black hens, I will get 100% blue? Anyone know hat would happen if I bred him with my Buff Orpington?
