Can anyone tell me why my two Black Australorp roosters have such different features, there must be some sort of breed reason. Their body shape and eyes especially, the one on the bottom has such big round eyes and is more hen-shaped compared to the other.

Hens are 2-5 yrs. of age. Pullets are less than a year (maybe a yearly or two)

Ron, or anyone else that has experience with processing chickens. How much weight do you lose from live to dressed carcass? I couldn't resist any longer and today put one of the 13 week old boys on the scale. He weight 4# 12oz.

They're about 16-18 weeks old. I picked them up at Tractor Supply.

That is a good size!

They seem to lose about 1.5 pounds. Wait until 16 weeks or so and you will have a 4# or so dressed bird. That is a good size and still tender.
