Australorps breed Thread

Great name and she looks like quite the character, too! Love the nickname - limin chicken, too!! She must have been the more lemony of the trio as chicks. What breed is she?

she's just an easter egger. I believe she has some leghorn or something of the like with white earlobes, she has pink earlobes, lol. You can see the white skin and a blush of pink.
Her brother, the darker partridge, was named Turkey, and he was a gorgeous and sweet cockerel.

And his crow sounded like a flute playing a melody.
I really regret getting those two decrowed.

There a a couple of Vets that de crow now. It is best to buy the de crowed rooster from the vet instead of having one of yours decrowed. Many of them die since it is hard to use anesthesia and chickens.

yes, and I don't recommend it.

They normally die from complications of the procedure and not from the anesthesia. Both of mine got to the point they couldn't breath and had to be euthanized.

I do agree, if you want a decrowed rooster, you should buy one that you know has survived it.

How much did it cost to get them decrowed?

I'm not really sure if that is something I should discuss publicly. The vet refunded me for one of the surgeries, when the second one started declining, I didn't want him to get as bad as the first one, but didn't tell the vet, so I'm not sure if he would have refunded me for that one as well or not.
