Australorps breed Thread

I'm almost afraid to ask this but what do you think pullet or roo?
This bird was severely injured by another flock, I agreed to nurse her back to health for the agreement that she stays. She is healing up wonderfully and I've grown really attached. I ordered 5 male australorps from MM, this one is an extra and much smaller than the other birds and believe it or not her comb is quite a bit lighter than the roos. I really hope it is a female but will probably keep it regardless!

Also take a look at the injury. Do you think her feathers will return?

How old is the chicken?

I might see hackle feathers so this might be a boy.

The fathers will come back fairly well. Scar tissue will stop the feathers and I do not see any.

15 weeks, very small compared to hatch mates!
Good!

I am hoping for you!

Got an egg today that weighed 73.7 grams. I got 4 today for the first time. I had been getting 3 for 3 days straight,. but today there was a white egg! My little Leghorn started laying at 17 weeks old. She is tiny! The egg weighed 48.19 grams not that far off of a medium.

Yum! I don't make sourdough bread myself but we do purchase it from a local bakery each week.
Wondering if your starter is from the original 1847 the old west? I had no idea what "Oregon Sourdough" was so did a quick search & came up with that. Love to learn new stuff.

Wonderful to hear you are getting all those eggs! Jumbo and small. I know it really makes us happy when I find them in the nests. DH & I think the BA eggs taste better than any egg we have ever had before in our entire lifetime.

Cool ! Great for Newbies !
So why Grams verses ounces ? is grams more accurate ? Or ?
My Rode Island Red ( shes 1 1/2 years old ) laid a huge egg today even though she is moulting ..4 oz ...113.40 grams ? My scale only does ounces
It looks like 2 whole eggs it is so big ...Ouch ! Cant wait to crack it open ..
