Australorps breed Thread

Our two Blues Brothers have grown a bit, just over 10 weeks now and the Dark Blue is suspected of crowing already.

Dark Blue cockerel

Black pullet

Black cockerel...impressed with how much his comb and wattles have grown.

Lighter blue cockerel

I am finding a few longer feathers in the grow out run now so I think they are going through their first mini moult.
They look amazing! Look forward to pic in the future as they mature. It never ceases to amaze me to see pics of how fantastic the Australorps from Australia appear to be so fine. Lucky you are for sure. ~Dee~

Hennchick,
Welcome aboard the crazy chicken train. Your cockerel reminded me of one of my prized breeders "Dundee". He was real friendly and would listen to a lot of voice commands and do tricks. Check out my link to Dundee Lap Dance below. After I lost him I never taught another chicken tricks. You are way out west by the Ohio border and I am way east by Martinsburg,WV. Quite a diverse state we live in, don't ya think.

What link?

Hennchick,
There is a youtube link in my signature in my original post to you. Also the blue link down below this post. Just click on it. You can also go into my profile to see many pics of my birds over the last few years just by running your mouse over RattlesnakeRidgeWV then click on profile.Hopefully, that helps you navigate on this web better.

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to byc. I've just spent a month reading through the thread. I'm starting to breed australorps in the spring, and have aquired 5h +1p and 1k (my avitar) to start the program. I will be looking for a pair from another line in the near future. Other than the aussies, I have a few barnyard chickens.

Welcome to the crazy chicken train! Have you heard about chicken math? It is a very addictive disease with no known cure along with hatching, you never have enough!!

Ron,
I was just going thru your pics on your profile and you have some awesome birds there. How are the Hupps doing? Mine are doing great and I will start breeding when they start laying better. I mixed some of my best blacks in with the blue a splashes so we will see what transpires.

They are doing Great!

One died from Fungus--likely Valley Fever that we have here since all Animals are exposed to it when coming here. We have access to free Necropsy here so I know for sure. The other three pullets are doing fine and I have 3 Cockerels living on an Egg Farm in Winters. I hope to set up a breeding pen out there soon.
