AUTUMNAL EQUINOX 9/23/2010 set this morning- 34 eggs! anyone with me??

I've got a broody Welsummer that decided to sit on the 23rd, so she must believe the equinox is lucky too. I gave her a dozen to sit on and she's still there so far.

I got Flossy and her hatch mates in March so these will be our first chicks if she sticks it out. I had another Welie and a Cochin try to sit on the hay pile outside the coop, but racoons broke out a window in the barn after about a week. I could tell by the feathers there was a pretty good fight but fortunately the coons only pulled them off their nests and ate the eggs. Still, I've got my fingers crossed for this batch and am working on a brooder to mover her into. I'm planning to candle and move her Friday at night and hope she doesn't give up on them. Does anyone think this might work?

@jt - I take the eggs out one at a time. I keep the lid closed until i need to put back an egg/take one out. but my incubator stays really consistent on temp because of the ZooMed temperature control + where the heat lamps are located.

@Letisha - thanks! i hope yours do well too.

I can't wait to get home so I can update my chart again. I just draw a chart though. easy enough. then again, i'm better at drawing then I am with computers.

looks like i have 10 Ameraucanas and 11 maybe 12 Silkies.

none of the developing silkies are in the blue/spash eggs. booo.

but i am pretty sure at this point they're not going to.

i am going to tell the person who shipped me the eggs that they aren't developing. not a single vein.

the rest of their eggs were all great except one white and one partridge egg. but that's fine. seems just a bit odd that all 4 b/s eggs are still empty.

14 of my ameraucana eggs started, but 4 of them turned into blood rings. not sure why, but at least i still have 10.

i just use a small LED flashlight that cost 1$ at a local discount hardware store lol! LED is the best because it is so bright.

Hey guys can you please look at my post on this thread and tell me if I am right or wrong about the eggs. I would post here but it is a pain in my pack side post pics on this forum. This is right before they went in the bator. I am just wanting to check my knowledge about hatching.

xyresicchick I am sorry about the b/s silkies maybe the seller will ship more I don't know I have never hatched before.
