Ayam Cemani

Okay folks, this thread required quite a bit of cleanup.

First, lets be careful not to jump to conclusions on whether someone is illegally importing birds/eggs or not. As was the case here, there are those that have imported and/or acquired these birds legally.

BYC does not condone any illegal behavior, but we are not the appropriate agency to be dealing with it either. It's up to the member to do their research.

This entire argument could have been avoided had it been reported earlier. Please remember to report posts you feel are against the rules here and do not quote them or comment. It just adds more fuel to the fire, creates conflict between members, and makes our job more difficult to clean it up.

Now, back to the Ayam Cemani.

I remember see this breed o n feathersite a few years back. One day I would love to work with this breed (and *dont kill me!* possibly cross it Sumatras for darkee skin tone :drool ) but right now is out of the question due to the insanely high prices GFF has.

one day though, one day...

but I will be following this thread!

Never been one to worry about crossing projects. But if you did this it would not help Sumatra. Sumatra are a gypsy faced YELLOW skin bird. Cemani are fibro melanistic . In other words every part inside and out is black. So this would darken the Sumatra face, but its going to make them black skinned, meat, bones, and feet too. In escense , you'd just make a long tailed cemani is all with multiple spurs and a pea comb
