Baby Chick With Duct Tape Issue

My gut notion is to leave it alone, but I am worried about the warmth from the heat lamp making the tape loose, sticky and the chick pecking. I would hate for his face to get stuck to his wing.

I think WD-40 would be toxic if it got any in it's mouth, and it might hurt it's skin. Goo-gone is made from orange oil and it would probably work better.

I was thinking of anything that would be non-toxic... that is why I went with vinegar. It does work, perhaps not as fast as other stuff... but if you use warm water, keep the chick under the light, and perhaps keep a blow dryer on its side on low for warmth...

I have the same problem, my 1 week old chick got her wing stuck on some loose masking tape. I cut it a short as possible and want to find the best/quickest way to get it off. (I don't have WD-40 or Goo-Gone).

Alcohol loosens tape glue, but again wouldn’t want a chill. Good part about it is that it evaporates quickly. 🤷🏼‍♀️ A stopper and a helper might work; one hold chick and wing, other drop a drop, peel a little, and repeat. We always used a bit of isopropyl alcohol to loosen that horrible white medical tape on dogs and cats legs, especially if they had an iv catheter in for a few days. The trick is to get it on the sticky part, and not try to soak it through.

Is that duct tape or packing tape? Doesn’t look like traditional silver duct tape to me from those pictures. :) be easier to remove if it’s the clear packing tape! Not as sticky and doesn’t get as “oozy” as the thicker glue on the silver stuff.
