Baby chicks

Hi All,

I joined yesterday to BYC, this my first post.

I live in the Austin area, can anyone suggest where to buy chicks? I checked Ideal, but they won't have any breeds that we want ready at the same time.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

i don;t know about Austin, but I got my little flock at Dell's farm supply. The staff was very knowledgeable and kind, they answered all my new mom questions

Find your local feed stores and see who carries chicks and when. Almost undoubtedly their chicks will have come from Ideal; of course you can ask. You will want to choose a feed store or two anyway.

Beware the employees' information, though. Although they may mean well, they typically are not trained in chicken care.

ETA Sorry, for some reason I thought I read you were in Texas. They generally get them from one of the major hatcheries like Ideal, anyway.
