March of this year the man next door to us was murdered and they set a fire to cover up the evidence. They finally caught the man who did it and he is being charged with his murder. It was a nightmare. Josh had his window cracked and heard the fire and went running threw the house screaming Earls house is on fire. I called 911 and told them please hurry the man was sick he had cancer and I think he is still in the house. Hubbie , robbie and Josh went over there and broke down the door but couldn't get in because the smoke and fire was so bad. We didn't know he was murdered we just thought he went to sleep and was smoking and caught the house on fire. They couldn't get Earl out and when the fire department finally got here they found Earl murdered. The house is gutted from the fire so they are tearing it down.

It sounds like a dateline story that's for sure. They had it on the local news for weeks. I was dodging the tv camera trying to get to my car to go to work.

Earl had told Robbie several months before this happened if anything happens to me this man did it. That is the man they charged too. They had plenty of evidence and he later admitted it but tried to make it sound like it was self defense. I would love to move to a little place in the country with no neighbors. It's to late in life for that so I'm stuck here. The neighbors on the other side lost their house and the bank foreclosed on it. That worries me too if someone buys that house will they tolerate the chickens and the ducks. So I worry about that.In our town you can have chickens but no no roosters nothing is said about the ducks.

I need to quit worrying and enjoy the day and count my blessings. Que Sera Sera.

I love your humor Patty. Your post made me laugh. I am glad you got to hold the sweet Que Sera. Ugh, the tear down next door. Yikes. I hate the idea of the disruption to hour flock. But it sounds like you and Hubby have safeguards in place. Keep us updated on it.

I'll keep you updated on the tear down of the house. I hope it all goes smoothly I'm sure with all the noise and stuff the ducks will be glad to go over to the side yard. Earls house sits back in the lot so where his begins our house ends. Our garage sits about 20 foot from Earls house so it's probably going to take a pounding.

Cracking jokes on the duck thread. We miss you Patti I need a good laugh to start the day.

Robbie gave me a compliment yesterday. He said you smell like a duck.

I just come inside after cleaning buckets that Hubbie collects, shoveling out the food station, cleaning food bowls, rinsing out pools and refilling and yes I smelled like a duck. I even felt like a duck with all the water I had to use.

Ode Duck a new fragrance in perfume. Kind of like when one of our dogs rolls is something really stinky and comes inside thinking he smells so heavenly. Pew Wee we call that ode De dog.

Hi everyone just a quick run through, My dad is much worse and they really thought he would have gone to glory last night but he is still with us and so we are staying close by, I sure miss everyone and will try to run through again soon. My computer is the old timey desk top kind so i can't bring it with me to his room. Miss you all lots of hugs to everyone

That is probably their little natural body odor. I've never had a finch before but I've always admired them in the pet stores. Do they ever take a little bath in a water bowl in their cage?
Your finch ducks are probably the most loved finches in the world.

You are so right Patty, that is their natural little body odor. And yes, they do bathe in their water dish. It is so cute. They make these exciting jit jit noises and their eyes get all big and they flutter about violently in the dish scattering water all over the floor. It is so cute to watch. they get pretty waterlogged and have a rough time flying to their perch to preen and I call them little wetlets. And, yes, they are the most love finch ducks in the world. I am always so stunned by their cuteness. their faces…..
