baby duck with lots of problems

When I hold Dave, while he doesn't struggle bc he likes to be held, he calms down a lot when I rub his chest too. Or when I take my finger right in between his wings. He also likes me to rub his leg, it gets him all sleepy when I do that. Good luck with yours! Davey used to shake bunches too but he doesn't anymore, just takes time
Dave sounds like a sweetheart. Loves to be held and petted. Give him an extra hug and smooch from me.

@Amykins - shaking like a chihuahua sounds about right.

Yes, scratching his chest usually works, but once I got him situated in my lap I felt him trembling so I gave him a quick pet and let him down. I felt bad that he was scared.

Just be patient. Even Bean has good days where she just wants to cuddle and won't bite my hands at all when I pet her tummy!

Great looking forward to seeing your finch ducks in their water. I'm waiting for the eggs to cool so I can feed these ducks and chickens. They expect a boiled egg in their food bowls in the morning. If they don't get it I have a bunch of angry ducks and angry

chickens running around the yard.

Heehee, thanks Patty. I hope it happens soon. Funny your ducks and chickens get mad and run around when they don't get their boiled egg. Great protein for them.

I'm a sad and feeling guilty duck mama. I just couldn't resist picking up my Donald last night. Once I got him settled on my lap, he started trembling. I let him down after a few seconds when he didn't calm down. He's such a soft fluff butt!! Wish I could hold him!!
I understand how you feel Debs. It is hard to resist and believe me when you have something living and breathing like Donald in your midst you want to hold and love on him. I had to catch my female finch duck last night to put her in the cage to bed. When I came downstairs at 9pm to brush my teeth she was still out on top of the cage. I could barely see her. The only way to get my finches when they are out of their cage is in the dark. After my eyes adjust I remember where they are sitting and I quickly grab them. It is awful because it scares them but what am I gonna do? Then being the selfish human I am I held her firmly so she wouldn't escape and smothered her in kisses then put her in the cage. Ugh. Poor thing. The one drawback with certain birds is not being to handle them when they are so cute. I seldom handle mine just to spare them the terror.

I get it. I hate scaring my birds. Sweet Donald. I hope he comes around some day.
