baby duck with lots of problems

Thanks Deb I'm still trying to get used to taking pics with a phone. I don't know why Rhonda was with the little group but they didn't seem to mind Momma tagging along. I guess she was trying to keep them out of trouble.

Patty
That was sweet they let her tag along those teenagers don't usually like adults among them. lol

Look at them all growed up and so pretty.. I love the little eye patches on Uno...Love the chickens too. such hams aren't they? lol
Thanks Patti yes their such hams for the pics. Josh was showing a little visitor the chickens I cut them off it's hard to see what your taking the pic of. I love little Uno's eye patches he's had these since he hatched. At first I thought he had dirt on his face.

Does Que Sera see her reflection of Princess in that boxy looking thing? They are such a cute flock of little ducks. all of them.

I went out to feed Sherry and Clyde out front and here come Topper zooming around the corner. I reached down and picked her up again and waited for Sherry to get finished with her eggs and then after petting and talking to her about being such a little piggy I put her down. This time she run over to the bowl and finished off what Sherry left. Donald gave me more dirty looks and I told him I was tired of Topper eatting her food and then coming out front and eatting all of Sherry's too. He knows she is a pig with no table manners what so ever.

I saw the ducks overhead practing their flight patterns for flying south. It's always sad for me when I see them I know summer is coming to an end. I enjoyed this summer so much being about to spend more time with the ducks and chickens. When I worked I didn't get to spend very much time with them and the winter time they were almost ready for bed when I got off from work. Hubbie would always give me reports on how they were doing.

Let me share with you all one of my favorite funny story about Hubbie and the chickens. I got home from work and Hubbie said I got everyone in the coop except for Fluffy I couldn't find him anywhere. I told him no wonder you couldn't find Fluffy we don't even have a chicken named Fluffy. I knew he was talking about Frosty our silky roo but it was so funny the way he said it. He said you know who I'm talking about the gray one with the spots. I couldn't stop laughing, finally I told him Frosty's name. From then on Frosty's nickname was Fluffy. He died in the coop fire last winter bless his heart.

Julie I didn't even notice that but I bet she does. It has glass windows it is the topper to hubbies truck. She loves to talk to Princess so I'm sure she is seeing her reflection in the window.

After years of raising chickens we got our first green egg. Miss Muffin was in the nesting box this morning putting little twigs of straw on her back. She's an Easter Egger so I was anxious to see what color egg she was laying. I think I'll blow it out and keep it.
The ducks are having kind of a lazy day today. All of them are laying around enjoying the shade. I guess after working all week catching bugs and chomping down the grass they are taking a day off. Que Sera didn't even talk my head off when I went to feed them. Maybe she has laringidious. That would make everybody happy in the flock. Uno still is sporting his purple vet wrap I hope this helps the little guy.

I found a nest in the back yard it had about 12 eggs in it. I know I checked there two days ago. The whole flock must be laying in that one spot except for Sherry she has a little bush that she lays under in the front yard. I'm surprised I didn't have a broody trying to hatch all those eggs. Everytime I find their spot to where they lay their eggs they switch locations. They play the easter bunny game of hiding their eggs all the time. We do have a wild rabbit that stays around here and maybe he is hiding the eggs.

Ducks are smart but maybe the rabbit is smarter.

p.s. hope everyone has a nice day.

I'm looking forward to my first egg! The coop is on wooden posts so it's about 3 feet off the ground. The ducks love going under there for the shade. I sure hope the don't decide to lay under there! I'd have to get down on all fours with a rake or something to get the eggs out. LOL...now that would be a sight. Sure hope I can get up again if I have to get in that position.

A quiet Que Sera, huh? She must really be in a relaxed state. Please give them all love from me! Runners are so darn cute!

You all have a nice day!!

Better prepare yourself. Ducks will lay when and where they choose. I have actually seen a duck walking across the yard and plop, there is an egg and she did not miss a step. The will also lay in the most out of reach and out of the way places, especially if they discover it is you taking their eggs. So, be prepared to crawl, scoop, roll, reach and anything else to gather those eggs. Around here every day is an egg hunt.

LOL...you've confirmed what I suspected. At least I'll be mentally prepared for it. I much prefer that to unpleasant surprises. Hope my knees hold up!

Be prepared Deb they will pick the most out of the way spot. Thelma and Louise laid 4 eggs under the porch. I had to get a stick to get them out. Remember Topper laying behind the wood pile. I had to dismantel the wood and get the eggs from behind. Sometimes they lay in the duck house which is fun to find. I just look for a circle of straw with a wall about a foot tall.

Yes Que Sera is quiet today and laid back. They must have stayed up all night or something. I will give my love to her she looks like a white pencil now.
