baby duck with lots of problems

They don't want a roo because they don't want the eggs fertilized..but Isn't it the same as ducks where they don't develop until they're sat on for a while? Sorry if I'm wrong but I'm a newbie to all this stuff. I really want a roo though because of how protecting they are!

Your correct just like duck eggs the hen has to incubate them first so if eggs are collected every day no baby chicks and no difference in taste either

AND who knows your mom may just want to hatch some chicks of her own. one nice thing about letting your own hens hatch is the chicks are accepted into the flock easier and you can limit the amount of eggs she sits own. They don't care if it's 2 or 10 eggs as long as they get to sit. My EE's have never been broody and they are 3.5 yrs old.

Sounds nice and the warm cream goes with everything. That's a lot of work but it's worth it when you see the end result.

I thought that's how it worked! I wasn't completely sure though. I think their main concern was cracking an egg open to developing chick's/blood spots. Thanks for sharing this information with me

Hugs to everyone on Byc and thank you for the hugs I need them this morning.

Dottie my coo coo maran died sometime last night. She wasn't sick she was eatting with Coach yesterday morning. Her and Coach were always hanging out togeather in the coop. She was the head hen in the coop. I will miss her and I feel so sorry for Coach,

Then if that wasn't bad enough I was pulling the water hose trying to fill up one of the pools and the hose gave and I went down butt first in the rose bush.

It broke my fall but that might be the end of the rose bush. I didn't get stuck by the thorns thank goodness. I used the fence post to pull myself up. I'm fine just embarrassed the heck out of me. I don't think anyone seen me.

Yes I forgot the chickens saw me. They had this look on their faces like why are you sitting in the rose bush?
