baby duck with lots of problems

aww laying on his bed beside his mom he is so sweet. At least Sam gives a warning and I hope that Opie listens and behaves. Sam is not a bully but he's not going to put up with being pushed around.

Clyde is taking his pills every morning. He acts like he expects it now and it makes him feel special I think. My aim is not very good but I'll say Clyde go get it and he does. I have to hurry because the others are gobbling their eggs and they will go after his bread if they get finished first. I always save him some egg too and I throw that after he eats his bread with the pills in it. Clyde is still hobbling around but he seems to be up more then what he was. I can see improvement and that is good.

Josh is doing very good thank you. I worried about him getting blood clots but I don't think he will. He has a dr's appointment wednesday for a check up and we'll see what the dr. says. I'll let you know but I think he is doing great. I thank god for the great care he got in the hospital.

I'm so glad to hear that Josh is doing well, Patty, and also that Clyde is taking his med. That's so funny. Ducks don't like new things, but then they become a habit. Now you just need to wonder how Clyde is going to do when he doesn't get his special bread treat. LOL.

Please let us know how things come out with Josh. I know I don't engage in the conversational posts all that often, but it's not for lack of caring, just lack of time. It's always very difficult to have something happen to one of your children and on down that line. It's just not supposed to happen to people who are younger than you, and I know my mind has always had a lot of trouble coming to terms with things like that.

Great news on both, TLC at the hospital for Josh and at home, and then Clyde getting his meds and beginning to feel better, Now when I come out Ernie perks up too, I just have to make sure my piggy chickens are not right near. They really make him nervous.
I look forward to hearing what the Dr. has to say but it sounds like Josh is doing much better.

Patty, great news about Josh. I hope he isn't prone to any clots. And it's reassuring he has a dr appt this Wednesday. Great medical care is a bonus and I know all about that myself.

Yay for Clyde getting his meds. He knows the routine. Sweet male drake. I am glad he feels special. He is.

River dog is a huge salamander .

Julie It's time for Opie to be taken down a notch listen to this i just went out to check on everyone and Opie is down at the fence really wanting me to get him so I go out and stand between him and the geese so he can walk around to the gate let him in and he immediately goes and runs old Ernie into the dog house so I politely picked Opie up and put him back out with the geese and his girls.

I put Opie in the pool yesterday but managed to get all muddy doing it. No I didn't get in with him it was too cold.
yes it is, Patti. Definitely. He is starting to get his placement in the pecking order regarding the geese it appears. but then he has to assert his dominance over someone else. Poor Ernie. Was he ok after Opie chased him into his house? I am glad you picked Opie up and put him back with the geese. Could this mean that now he is with the geese, he's learned his lesson and will not attack Sam anymore?

Haha. You crack me up. Glad you didn't get in with him. You'd get hypothermia but Opie Opes won't.

OK, good, I sorta remembered what a river dog was. Icky. I bet they are slimy to the touch. They can just stay in the river, thank you.

Well he is finally inside laying on his bed. If he behaves I don't think Sam will start anything with him,Sam usually only has to lower his head and straighten his neck out and every one go okay I move. lol
Neat how well their body language conveys a serious message to the others.

I have never touched a river dog but other salamanders aren't slimy. I try to protect them around here or the ducks gobble them up.

We'll just have to see how this relationship pans out between the 2 boys. I am going to put a shelter up in the goose lot just in case I have to put the geese away from everyone as the year ends and crabbiness begins to take over with breeding season coming after the first of the year. Hopefully it won't start till Feb of next year like this year. But they get crabby before hand.

I know ducks were meat eaters but am again surprised they eat salamanders.

Definitely going to be an interesting observation seeing the 2 boys get along. Great idea to put up the shelter in the goose lot. Birds and their hormones sure a formidable lot. But I suppose it has to be for the future of their respective species.

I'm glad you have a plan just in case things don't work out. It sounds like you are a referee trying to get everyone to quit fighting.

I got up late this morning and the ducks let me know it. I had ducks in the back yard quacking and ducks in the front yard quacking. I gave them some frozen peas to go with their other stuff so they wouldn't be to mad at me. When I opened the coop door it looked like black friday when the shoppers storm the doors to be let in.

I hope everyone has a nice day it's beautiful here. I would love to keep these temps all year round. The ducks and the chickens like it too.

Patty
