Bad Experience Brooding with Ceramic Heat Lamp

Another reason to warn people against ceramic heat lamps... I had a 200W ceramic bulb screwed into one of those 300W-rated ceramic sockets. Just took the bulb out (since I'm no longer using the ceramic bulbs at all), and the metal contacts had begun to fuse

They barely came apart. Talk about a fire hazard...

I am so grateful for all this info being shared on ceramic heat emitters!

I was seriously considering them. Now I will continue to use incandescents
and look forward to buying a sweeter heater or two! Thanks so much for sharing, ya'll!

If I prevent just a few people from going through the same turmoil that I have been through with these CHEs, I think I can go to bed happy

Thanks for the information! I'm trying to find a "no light" heat bulb and the CHE seemed to be only solution but sure enough they are too "linear" for my needs. Guess I'll have to check out on how to paint a heat bulb and not make it explode... (possible?)
