Banning fur...

Sorry to get a little off topic about banning wool but I just read an article on Daily Mail about the fake Ugg boots having real raccoon dog fur on them.

It's disgusting that you can't even buy something that is suppose to be fake fur and it ends up having real fur on it. Seems like fake fur would be cheaper to make than paying people to trap and skin the animals.

I remember an article a long time ago when the coats with the fake fur trim on the hoods ended up having raccoon dog fur on them. Somewhere a JcPennys store had to take the coats off the racks. They wrote raccoon fur on the tags and then tried to resale the coats but got caught.

I'm against skinning any animal alive and treating the animal badly before the animal dies. That is what disgusts me about the raccoon dogs and how they skin them. At least with something like a cow they are raised on a farm and treated fairly decent and get to have a pretty good life at least on my FIL's farm. They are also humanely killed and have most if not all of the whole animal used.

I throw most of mine back. I only killed one crappie because he swallwed the whole hook too deep.

I threw all the fish I caught back. I did accidently kill one though that the hook stuck into its side. I did toss it back into the water so it could be eaten by something and not wasted.

I threw that one back too, i had some happy turtles that day. Pretty much the only fish we keep are 3pounds + channel cats. I think if the animal had a good life , gets dispatched humane and feeds a person/family then its ok to eat a animal .

goldtopper it has gone into the extreme concerning bleeding hearts.
Did you see the story where some woman saw a calf laying in the grass and took it home and tried to nurse it back to health with a turkey baster and baby formula?
She almost killed the calf. Also turned out she STOLE it from the University research center that raised pure bred cattle.

Wonder how these people will feel when a coyote or fox comes in and eats their dog or cat.

It would be interesting to poll the folks promoting this type ban to see how many send their pet dogs to the groomer every 6 weeks for a new haircut.

Mac in Wisco, to add to what you said about trapping. Decades ago we lived in western Washington. One of our neighbors worked occasionally at a nearby mink farm, which slowly went out of business because of competition from Japan. I remember once that she said an expensive male breeder mink got loose. I don't think it was ever caught. She used to bring me mink oil for my husband's leather boots.

This topic just points up again how far we have come from the farm. I think farm life grounds a person.
