Bantam Cochin thread.

So many adorable little fluffballs! All in one place.

I'm new to these lovely little birds. We got lucky with a batch of assorted bantams from TSC a couple of months back. And had a beautiful sweet little silver lace whom my daughter named Pie.
Unfortunately we lost her last weekend when she snuck out of the enclosed run and bedded down in the yard for the night. Before work my husband left his shorthair out and he found poor Pie in the grass. Needless to say, his attempts to "play" with her did not end well...

We then stumbled upon this sweetie at our farmer's market and livestock auction.

Judging by the color of her comb and the state of her horrendously overgrown nails we're guessing she's at least two and probably never touched the ground before.
She is really pretty pudgy under all those feathers and not very active. She'll waddle short distances and then just sort of flattens out in the grass and sits there looking around. I treated her for mites, trimmed her nails, and she is eating and drinking well. I'm hoping she'll come around and enjoy all that wide open space in time. But I'm not sure how much of her inactivity is due to never being free range before and her being quite overweight and how much is just the floppy rag doll cochin temperment. Does anybody have any ideas on getting her motivated?

EDIT:::

So I just weighed our little butterball. She weighs 43 oz. According to the info I've found she should weigh about 26 oz. I think this makes me think that I probably should get her to slim down a little bit for her own good.
